The Stone Road Grille Story

At the Stone Road Grille, we offer casual fine dining in an eclectic and lively atmosphere. We are open year-round serving gourmet cuisine prepared by Chef Ryan Crawford hosted nightly by proprietors Heidi and Perry Johnson.

But the food and atmosphere aren't the only things that make us unique. So does our 100 per cent Niagara only VQA wine list.

Closed Mondays until Spring

Lunch Served - Monday to Friday - 11:30am to 2pm
Dinner Served - Monday to Saturday - 5pm to 10ish

"REST" - The Story Behind Our Other Name

We opened the doors to the Stone Road Grille on Friday, August 1, 2003 after two furious weeks of renovation. The night before opening, we asked one of our servers, Kevin to climb a ladder and peel off the letters from the old sign that read "Mina's Restaurant & Bar" and to leave up just the "Restaurant" portion.

In our haste to open, we had yet to figure out what our new sign should look like - nor could we afford one - so "Restaurant" would have to do.

Well, chalk it up to 14 days of round-the-clock preparation combined with several portions of wine, beer and caffeine. When we stepped outside to check the progress, Kevin was down to "Rest" and fairly proud of his pace. "Almost done Boss," were the words - you can imagine what ours were!

We stepped back, speechless for what seemed like an hour, then had a good laugh. The saving grace was the "Rest" was at least a word and that it was somewhat centered across the front.

We agreed that we'd get the sign properly done when we had more time and a few creative ideas. Two years later, the sign remained until a series of sternly-worded letters from our landlord stating our sign was "cheapening the plaza." Go figure!

Needless to say, we purchased a new "Rest" sign.
